The microphone in some units may be very sensitive and may cause clipping at the default settings of the AGC (Automatic Gain Control). Recognition accuracy can be improved substantially in those cases by disabling the AGC.
This change is made in Settings/System/Compaq Audio in the Microphone AGC tab.
Lowering the gain settings from its default of 20 to a value of 10 are possible and supported, higher gain settings are not.
Any changes in the gain value should be made with the AGC disabled.

When adding memory - requires high speed MMC cards (60x plus) to avoid audio dropouts
Since microphone is on the back side of the unit, we recommend to turn the unit around before dictating for better accuracy and performance.
The audio is relatively poor at the standard operating scenario partly because the microphone is on the back of the device where the camera is located.
Dragon Score when talking towards the camera/mike:
Moving the device closer to the mouth than our standard 4 inches does not improve accuracy because of high microphone sensitivity.
